THE TRIP DOWN

5:00 a.m. - Students Arrived at Lyman Hall High School anxious and ready to go!

5:45 a.m. - Bus departs Lyman Hall High School for Newark.

8:00 - 11:45 a.m. - The flight was delayed about an hour. Students passed the time by playing cards, dice, video games, listening to music, reading, sleeping, eating, and getting acquainted with each other.

11:45 a.m. - Departed for Houston (connection)... finally

30 minutes after connection was supposed to leave - We arrived in Houston and sprinted to the wrong gate, and then back to the right gate. Thank You Continental for waiting!

5:00 p.m - Arrived in New Orleans. It took a little while after that to get our bags and the vans which gave us more time to take some pictures and become acquainted with the whole "CREW"

7:00 p.m. - Arrived at Camp Hope in St. Bernard Parish. http://www.habitat-nola.org/projects/st_bernard.php . DINNER!! Students and Chaperons scarfed down some much needed macaroni and cheese, jambalaya, chili, and some other yummies.

8:00 p.m. - Orientation. A former Tulane student and current Camp Hope resident for almost a year led us through a 90 minute orientation. We watched a couple short video's on the area with real footage from Hurricane Katrina. You can watch the videos through the above link.

9:30 p.m. - Showers, cards, chatting, computers, and.... SLEEP! What a long day. We are all looking forward to getting started bright and early tomorrow morning.
